MANILA, Philippines — The water level in Angat Dam in Bulacan continued to dip yesterday, breaching its 180-meter critical mark.
Ted Elipio, division manager for operations of the Angat-Umiray Transbasin Tunnel, said the dam’s water level was at 176 meters.
Angat Dam is Metro Manila’s main source of water.
The Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) continued cloud-seeding operations at the La Mesa Dam to help mitigate its declining water level.
Mary Joy David, BSWM project development officer II, said they have been conducting cloud seeding at the La Mesa Dam since April 10.
David said the cloud-seeding operations were conducted at the request of Manila Water and Maynilad, water concessionaires of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System.
She said one cloud-seeding operation, which costs P38,000, resulted in two hours of rainfall in the watershed.
The BSWM is scheduled to conduct cloud seeding in Angat Dam next week.
