MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency’s K-9 unit is set to conduct an “adoption day” for retiring police dogs.

PDEA announced that nine of its retiring narcotic detection dogs are in search of their new homes.

The adoption day is open to the public and is slated on May 3, 2019, Friday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Willing adopters are advised to fill out application and adoption agreement forms posted on PDEA's Facebook page. They may also contact Investigation Agent III Bernardo Velasquez, chief of the K-9 unit, at 09228472605.

The adoption day will be held at PDEA K-9 Unit Facility Sitio Lambakin, Barangay Sto. Cristo, City of San Jose del Monte Bulacan to formalize the adoption.

PDEA already posted the profile of the nine dogs up for adoption, which include one German shepherd and a Belgian malinois, aged five to 10 years old.

The details of the K-9 unit’s whereabouts such as their names, temperament, behavior were also indicated.

“These dogs were evaluated and recommended for retirement based on their performance in drug detection and health condition,” PDEA said.

In August last year, PDEA also conducted an adoption day. A total of 13 dogs including one golden retriever, one German shepherd, two Jack Russell terriers and nine Belgian malinoises were adopted then.
