Q1 public satisfaction with Robredo, Sotto in positive territory — SWS
MANILA, Philippines — Public satisfaction with Vice President Leni Robredo and Senate President Vicente Sotto III settled in the positive territory in the first quarter of 2019, according to a new opinion poll.
The survey also showed a spike in Filipinos’ satisfaction with House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Supreme Court Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin, although it stayed in the “poor” and “moderate” territories, respectively.
Results of a March 28 to 31 Social Weather Stations survey of 1,440 adults nationwide showed Robredo’s net satisfaction rating rose from “moderate” to “good” in the first three months of 2019, up by 15 points to +42 following increments in all geographical areas except in Metro Manila, which saw a two-point decline.
Meanwhile, Sotto’s net satisfaction score steadied at “very good” +61 in the first quarter due to single-digit increases in Mindanao and Balance Luzon that offset a 10-point slump in Metro Manila and a flat score in Visayas.
The same SWS survey also found Arroyo’s net satisfaction score stayed in the “poor” territory, albeit higher by four points to -17. The pollster attributed the improvement in the House Speaker’s score to increases in Mindanao, Visayas and Balance Luzon, combined with a three-point drop in Metro Manila.
Lastly, Bersamin saw his overall satisfaction score climbed by three points to stay at “moderate” territory on the back of improvements in Balance Luzon, Mindanao and Visayas, as well as a 20-point decline in Metro Manila.
Based on SWS methodology for net satisfaction ratings, a score of 70 and above is considered excellent, 50 to 69 is very good, 30 to 49 good and 10 to 29 moderate. — Ian Nicolas Cigaral
