Duterte to rights groups: You defend, I kill criminals
DAVAO CITY, Philippines — President Duterte lambasted anew human rights groups for “defending criminals” while he does the opposite – kill them.
In his speech during the PDP-Laban campaign rally in Bacolod City the other day, the President said he would not hesitate to kill more criminals as he has no plans of slowing down in his campaign against criminality, corruption and illegal drugs.
He is unfazed, he added, with the way those groups have been condemning him and even charging him before the International Criminal Court (ICC) for not respecting human rights.
Duterte has been accused of being behind the deaths of more than 20,000 persons in the government’s anti-drug campaign.
“I don’t care about criminals, the robbers and their kind – they can be killed like dogs,” the President said in Filipino.
He added he would leave it up to the human rights groups to do what they think is their job as he will deliver on his task to curb criminality in the country.
“Each of us has our own tasks in this world. You defend criminals, I kill criminals,” Duterte said.
