MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) yesterday resumed its use of the new rank classification in all its communications.
In a memorandum, PNP chief directorial staff Lt. Gen. Camilo Pancratius Cascolan directed all police units to shift to the new rank classification following the issuance of the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) for Republic Act 11200, which standardizes the way police officers are called.
“The following new ranks shall be used in all manner of PNP communications,” he said.
The PNP earlier this month put on hold the use of the rank classification pending approval of the IRR.
Although the PNP started using the new rank classification last Feb.
28, PNP chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde issued an order holding its use in abeyance until after the IRR is released.
The PNP earlier welcomed the law that returned police ranks to those similar to military titles.
