Heavy rainfall warnings issued amid 'Usman'

MANILA, Philippines — Heavy rainfall warnings have been issued in parts affected by Tropical Depression Usman, which has weakened into a low pressure area Saturday morning.

In a 9 a.m. bulletin Saturday, the state weather bureau advised residents in the following areas to take necessary preparations.

Red Warning Level

Severe flooding may occur and is likely to get worse. Residents in landslide prone areas must prepare.

  • Camarines Norte
  • Albay
  • Sorsogon

Orange Warning Level

Flooding threatens low-lying areas like those near river channels. Residents in mountainous areas should brace for possible landslides.

  • Masbate, including islands of Burias and Ticao
  • Catanduanes
  • Northern Samar

Yellow Warning Level

Flooding is possible in low-lying areas and near river channels. Landslides may hit mountainous areas.

  • Oriental Mindoro

“Moderate to heavy rains over Camarines Sur and Romblon which may continue for two to three hours,” weather forecasters said.

“All are advised to take precautionary measures against floods in low lying areas, flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas,’ they added.
