MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon and a low-pressure area will continue to bring cloudy skies with light rains over Metro Manila and other parts of the country this Christmas Eve.

The temperature in Metro Manila will range from 24 to 31 degrees Celsius in the next three days, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Baguio City will also have cloudy skies with light rains until today. The temperature in the city will range from 14 to 25 degrees Celsius.

PAGASA weather forecaster Ezra Bulquerin said the weather condition in Luzon, including Metro Manila, is expected to improve tomorrow (Christmas Day).

Meanwhile, the low-pressure area off Samar will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains over Bicol region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga and the provinces of Aurora and Quezon.

As of 3 p.m. yesterday, the low-pressure area was spotted in the vicinity of San Jose de Buan, Samar.

PAGASA continued to warn the public against possible flooding and landslides.

The weather system was expected to dissipate within the next 24 hours.

Another LPA

PAGASA was also monitoring another low-pressure area east of the country.

It was last spotted at 2,435 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

The low-pressure area was expected to enter the Philippines tomorrow or on Wednesday.

The approaching low-pressure area is also unlikely to become a tropical cyclone, but it might bring rains over Caraga and Davao regions.

PAGASA said one to two tropical cyclones could enter or develop within the country this month.

A total of 20 tropical cyclones have entered the Philippines, so far, this year, the average number that the country experiences annually.
