MANILA, Philippines — Members of a labor union welcomed Friday the decision of a Taguig court denying the petition filed by “abusive unit owners” and management of an upscale condominium at the Bonifacio Global City against their labor strike.

In a statement, the Pacific Plaza United Action of Labor-Solidarity of Unions in the Philippines for Empowerment and Reforms (Punyal-Super Federation) said they would continue to fight for workers’ rights despite Pacific Plaza Towers’ “harassment.”

“Kahit patuloy ang harassment at paghahanap ng management ng paraan na matanggal ang kubol ng PUNYAL-SUPER sa gitna ng Bonifacio Global City, mananatiling matatag at palaban ang unyon para biguin ang management at ipanalo ang karapatang mag-unyon at maregular,” Punyal-Super Federation said.

(Despite the persistent harassment of the management and its efforts to look for ways to dismantle Punyal-Super’s picket line in the middle of the Bonifacio Global City, the union will stay strong and will fight for the union’s rights.)

A labor strike erupted at the Pacific Plaza Towers last August after workers demanded that they be regularized and be given employment benefits.

Three homeowners had asked the Regional Trial Court in Taguig to issue a temporary restraining order against the ongoing labor action, according to a BusinessMirror report.
