MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte named Western Command’s Lt. Gen. Rozzano Briguez as the new chief of the Philippine Air Force.
Briguez' appointment papers were released by Malacañang on Wednesday.

Briguez is a member of the Philippine Military Academy's "Sinagtala" Class of 1986 and was a class topnotcher of the PAF Flying School in 1988. Prior to heading the Western Command in Palawan, Briguez was vice commander of the PAF. He is replacing Lt. Gen. Galileo Gerard Kintanar Jr., who is stepping down 13 months earlier than the mandatory age of retirement of 56.
