Duterte appoints Aileen Lizada to CSC, promotes son-in-law’s brother
MANILA, Philippines — President Duterte has appointed Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) member Aileen Lizada as a commissioner of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and has promoted the brother of his son-in-law working in the Department of Agriculture (DA).
Lizada was appointed last Nov. 9 and succeeded former CSC commissioner Robert Martinez. Her term will expire on Feb. 2, 2025.
Earlier, Lizada and the LTFRB had a tiff over a memorandum circular on the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) inaugurated last Nov. 5.
The agency claimed Lizada had leaked an unofficial memorandum to the media and reminded her not to release unofficial documents to avoid confusion.
Duterte also promoted DA assistant secretary Waldo Carpio, brother of his son-in-law, to agriculture undersecretary. Carpio is the brother of Manases, husband of Duterte’s daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio.
Carpio was appointed agriculture undersecretary last Nov. 27, more than a year after he was named assistant secretary of the agency. The President was principal sponsor at the wedding of Waldo and his wife Regine two years ago.
Duterte has also named two new Nayong Pilipino Foundation (NPF) officials three months after he dismissed the state-run firm’s entire board for entering into a lease agreement with a casino firm that was deemed disadvantageous to the government.
Named as members of the NPF board of trustees were Ruth Marie Equipaje and Cesar Aljama.
Also appointed were Reynaldo Ola-a as National Security Council director 4; Alexander Bangsoy as board member of the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corp.; Corinna Frances Cabanilla as director 3 of the Commission on Higher Education and Roy Villa as Philippine National Railways board member.
