Swedish authorities reassures kin of slain Filipina justice
MANILA, Philippines — Swedish authorities reassured the family of a slain Filipina mother of two that justice would be served.
Mailyn Sinambong, a 28-year-old mother of children aged 10 and 4, was allegedly beaten to death by her 50-year-old Swedish husband Steve Abou Bakr Aalm on September 23.
The suspect has been taken into custody by Swedish authorities and will be charged with murder.
The Philippine government has welcomed the reassurance given by Swedish authorities that justice will be served for Sinambong, the Department of Foreign Affairs said in a statement released Monday.
"The assurance was given by prosecutors to Mailyn’s brother Angel Monato and cousin Maritchu Osabel during a meeting in Stockholm," the DFA said.
The victim's two relatives were flown in from Cebu through the help of the DFA Office of Migrant and Workers Affair.
Sinambong's two relatives will view her remains and meet all relevant Swedish authorities.
