Xi Jinping to meet Senate, House leaders Wednesday

Xi is scheduled to meet Senate President Vicente Sotto III and Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo at the Shangri-La Hotel in Taguig City at 11 a.m.

MANILA, Philippines — Visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet today with leaders of the Senate and House of Representatives to help forge better ties between the legislatures of the Philippines and China.

Xi is scheduled to meet Senate President Vicente Sotto III and Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo at the Shangri-La Hotel in Taguig City at 11 a.m.

“I will take up inter-parliamentary relationships with China. We’ll take it from there,” Sotto said when asked what he intends to discuss with Xi.

Sotto will be accompanied by Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto, Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri, and Senators Gregorio Honasan and Panfilo Lacson.

Arroyo is expected to be accompanied by her deputy speakers and House Majority Leader Rolando Andaya Jr.
