'Rosita' to exit PAR today
MANILA, Philippines — Severe Tropical Storm Rosita continues to inch away from the Philippine landmass and is now almost stationary over the West Philippine Sea.
PAGASA in its 5 a.m. severe weather bulletin Wednesday said "Rosita" is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility this afternoon.
"Ito ay inaasahan na magiging napakabagal ang kilos within a 24-hour period," PAGASA senior weather specialist Chris Perez said in an update streamed online at 5:26 on Wednesday.
The severe tropical storm has also slightly weakened as all tropical cyclone warning signals were lifted.
PAGASA said "Rosita" packs maximum sustained winds of 100 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 120 kph. At 4 a.m. today, its eye was spotted at 210 km northwest of Dagupan City, Pangasinan.
The state weather bureau said light to moderate rains due to the trough of "Rosita" would be experienced over the northern and central Luzon.
"Residents in these areas, especially those living near river channels, in low-lying areas and mountainous areas, are advised to take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslides, coordinate with the local disaster risk reduction and management offices," it said.
PAGASA also advised fisherfolk and those with small seacrafts not to venture out over the seaboards of northern Luzon and the western seaboards of central and southern Luzon.
Good weather on Undas
Perez said that good weather is expected for the next three days.
"Patuloy nga ang mainit at maalinsangang panahon. Improving weather sa Metro Manila bukas araw ng Undas hanggang sa Friday," PAGASA's senior weather specialist added.
No new weather disturbance is seen near the Philippines, according to the state weather bureau.
