MANILA, Philippines — Ten areas in Luzon have been placed under Signal No. 2 Monday morning as Typhoon Rosita (international name: Yutu) barrels toward the Philippine landmass.
“Rosita” will threaten northern and central Luzon with strong to very strong winds and moderate to heavy rains, state weather bureau PAGASA said.
The typhoon is expected to make landfall over Isabela-Aurora area Tuesday.
Tropical cyclone warning signals have been raised in the following areas:
Signal No. 2 (61 to 120 kilometers per hour expected in 24 hours)

Residents of areas under Signal No. 2 will experience stormy weather, while those in areas under Signal No. 1 will experience occasional rains and gusty winds.
PAGASA warned that storm surge is possible over the coastal areas of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Cagayan, Isabela and Aurora.
Fisherfolks and those with small sea vessels are also advised not to venture out over the seaboards of areas with TCWS and eastern seaboards of southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
As of 7:00 a.m., the eye of Rosita was seen 510 km east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan or 475 km east northeast of Casiguran, Aurora.
It packs maximum sustained winds of up to 170 kph near the center and gusts of up to 210 kph.
Moving west southwest at 20 kph, Rosita is forecast to leave the Philippine area of responsibility on Wednesday.
