MANILA, Philippines —The Department of Tourism recently released updated rules for the reopening of world famous Boracay island on October 26.

During the FOCAP forum on Saturday, Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said among the guidelines to be strictly followed are the “no compliance, no opening policy” for establishments on the island.

The DOT earlier named over 100 hotels that have complied with the requirements of the Department of Interior and Local Government and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

Puyat added that the carrying capacity of Boracay should also be limited to 19,215 persons a day and 6,405 tourist arrivals a day.

Boracay is set to open to local and foreign tourists on Friday after it has been closed for six months to pave way for its rehabilitation and restoration.
