MANILA, Philippines — Defeated senatorial bet Francis Tolentino has renewed his bid to become a member of the Senate.
Tolentino, President Rodrigo Duterte’s political adviser, will be running under the administration’s PDP-Laban.
The latest Pulse Asia survey on 2019 elections showed that the former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chief ranked in the 24th to 30th bracket.
In 2016, he filed an election protest against Sen. Leila de Lima. Tolentino, who placed 13th in the previous senatorial race, asked the Senate Electoral Tribunal to unseat the detained senator for allegedly cheating in the automated polls.
De Lima insisted that no one cheated during the 2016 elections and that Tolentino should accept that he simply failed to become a senator.
Before filing his COC today, senatorial candidate Francis Tolentino filed a motion to suspend and archive his electoral protest vs Sen. Leila De Lima without accepting that his rival won. @PhilstarNews pic.twitter.com/gdP5ARlJMy
