MANILA, Philippines — Former Palace official Mocha Uson on Monday confirmed that she will seek an elective post in the polls next year.
The announcement came a week after she resigned as a "sacrifice" to pave the way for the approval of the Presidential Communications Coperations Office budget. Deliberations on the agency's budget had been delayed by her failure to attend budget hearings, where heads of agencies and offices are often asked about their accomplishments in the previous year

"Yes, I will run because if this kind of person is being slandered like that... How about those who do not have a voice? The ordinary Filipino should have a voice," Uson told Senate reporters in Filipino.

Uson, however, is far from ordinary and, while in government, was included in the president's entourage on many overseas trips.
The Department of Foreign Affairs also "requested" her presence at some official functions, including events at the UN General Assembly in New York City. She was in New York during budget deliberations at the House of Representatives.
Asked if she will run for the Senate or the House of Representatives, the actress turned pro-Duterte blogger said she was not sure yet.
Uson is reportedly being considered as a nominee for ACTS OFW, the party-list organization represented at the House by Rep. Aniceto Bertiz III, the congressman who has been widely criticized for throwing a tantrum at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
There have been reports that President Rodrigo Duterte fired Uson after some PCOO officials and employees asked the president to fire her.
