MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed a veteran tourism official as the new chief operating officer of the Tourism Promotions Board.
Duterte named former Department of Tourism-Cordillera Administrative Region regional director Marie Venus Tan to be the replacement of resigned TPB chief Cesar Montano who tendered his resignation in May this year amid corruption allegations.
She was recommended by DOT chief Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.
Tan was appointed as DOT-CAR’s regional director in May 2015 but prior to that, she was assigned in Frankfurt, Germany to take care of Central and Eastern Europe and Russia.
Tan will take over the embattled agency starting Wednesday.
