Amputee Marawi soldiers among those who joined Duterte in Israel-Jordan trip
AMMAN — Soldiers who lost limb during the five-month Marawi siege were among the military personnel who joined President Rodrigo Duterte's trip to Israel and Jordan.
Six amputees were present during Duterte's week-long visit to the two Middle Eastern countries, a photo released by presidential aide Christopher Go showed.
The six are survivors of the Marawi siege, which left close to 200 soldiers and policemen and almost 1,000 terrorists dead.
Also in the photo are more than 40 military officers, including those who are about to retire from the service.
The photo was taken during Duterte's visit here in this Jordanian capital.
Duterte previously said he was bringing with him several retiring soldiers to Israel and Jordan as a reward for their service.
The battle of Marawi erupted after Islamic State-linked terrorists occupied the city on May 23, 2017. The siege prompted Duterte to place Mindanao under martial law.
