Duterte set to fire more corrupt government execs
DAVAO CITY, Philippines — President Duterte is set to fire more erring government officials, particularly those involved in graft and corruption.
Special Assistant to the President Christopher Go said investigations are still ongoing for those government officials who have been reported to have practiced corruption in their respective offices.
The entire board of the Nayong Pilipino Foundation were the officials the President fired most recently.
Go said the President vowed to relentlessly go on with the firing of corrupt government officials until his last day in office.
But Go pointed out that the President does not just fire officials since they have to go through the proper process and results of the inquiries made on their action would prove that they have indeed committed graft and corruption while in offfice.
“Nobody will be fired unless the pertinent investigation would have been conducted,” Go said.
Among those that the President has fired were former tourism secretary Wanda Teo, former interior and local government secretary Mike Sueno, justice secretary Vitalinao Aguirre III and labor undersecretary Dominador Say, among others, plus a number of other undersecretaries and assistant secretaries.
