Ex-appeals court justice Puno passes away at 95
MANILA, Philippines — Former Court of Appeals Associate Justice Ricardo Puno Sr. has passed away at the age of 95, his son said on Wednesday.
Former Rep. Robbie Puno (Antipolo), in a Facebook post, said: “Today, my dad, Justice Ricardo Puno Sr., joined his Creator.”
According to his profile at the Puno & Puno Law Offices, the former justice started his career in the Judiciary as a district judge in 1962.
In 1973, he was appointed as an appellate court associate justice and served the CA until 1978.
He then went on to serve as an assemblyman from 1978 to 1984. He was appointed minister of justice from July 23, 1979 to June 30, 1984.
After 22 years in public service, Puno founded the law firm Puno & Puno Law Offices. — Kristine Joy Patag
