MANILA, Philippines — Rains would continue to prevail over Luzon until Saturday as Tropical Storm Inday further intensified Thursday morning, state weather bureau PAGASA said.
In its 11 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the southwest monsoon, boosted by “Inday,” is set to bring intermittent moderate to heavy rainfall over Zambales, Bataan, the Cordillera Administrative Region and Ilocos Region as the tropical storm moves east-northeastward at 20 kilometers per hour over the Philippine Sea.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, meanwhile, will experience scattered light to moderate with at times heavy rains.
“Inday” was last spotted 935 kilometers east of east of Basco, Batanes as of 10 a.m. today. It packs maximum sustained of 75 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.
Residents are advised to take appropriate measures against possible flooding and landslides and coordinate with local disaster risk and management reduction offices.
No tropical cyclone signal has been raised over any part of the country.
Sea travel remains dangerous over the eastern seaboard of Northern Luzon and the seaboard of Central Luzon due to rough to very rough seas associated with the southwest monsoon and “Inday,” PAGASA warned.
The tropical storm is expected to leave the Philippine area of responsibility on Sunday morning.
“Inday” immediately replaced Tropical Storm Henry (international name: Son-Tinh), which left PAR Tuesday.
“Henry” left three people dead on Tuesday, namely Joshua Vincent Paulino, 15, from Sta. Barbara Pangasinan; Regine Thasis and Sunshine Cabus, both 13 years old from Lasam town in Cagayan. All three drowned in separate incidents in Cagayan and Pangasinan.
