MANILA, Philippines — State weather bureau PAGASA says Tropical Depression Henry is now threatening the northern Cagayan area as it maintained strength.

"Henry" packs maximum sustained winds of 60 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 75 kph.

It is moving west at 30kph.

PAGASA raised Signal No. 1 over Batanes, the northern portion of Cagayan including Babuyan Group of Islands, the northern portion of Apayao and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte.

The state weather bureau warned that occasional rains with gusty winds are expected over areas under Signal No. 1.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon or "habagat" will continue to bring monsoon rains over Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro Provinces, Palawan and Western Visayas, and scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over the rest of the county.

"Residents of these areas, especially those living in low-lying and mountainous areas, are advised to continue monitoring for updates, coordinate with their local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslides," PAGASA said.

Fisherfolks and those with small seacraft are also advised not to venture out over the seaboards of areas under Signal No. 1 and the western seaboard of Luzon due to moderate to rough seas.

Another LPA being monitored

PAGASA is also monitoring another low pressure area which was estimated to be at 945 km east of Infanta, Quezon as of 7 p.m. Monday.
