MANILA, Philippines —The government on Thursday began implementing the closure of Boracay island as President Rodrigo Duterte ordered.

The inter-agency task force of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Interior and Local Government, and Department of Tourism recently released eight guidelines on the restrictions, limitations and permitted activities in the island.

The island will be closed for six month to make way for its ecological rehabilitation and restoration.
