MANILA, Philippines — Xian Gaza, who was in the news in mid-2017 for a viral “billboard proposal” post, surrendered to the authorities on Thursday after two warrants for his arrest were issued over an alleged investment scam.
Gaza is asking his friends to pitch in for his bail of P160,000.
Speaking to The STAR while behind bars, he admitted that he has done wrong and said he wants to change once released.
“I became a scammer. I became a fraud,” Gaza added.
He ended his appeal to his “friends and supporters” with his trademark “nyeam” expression.
A report from ABS-CBN said that Gaza, who earlier claimed to have several businesses, said he had borrowed P3 million from at least two people, whom he asked to invest in a coffee shop.

Gaza's Facebook posts before his surrender suggest he had been visiting different countries.
Gaza’s claim to fame was his billboard proposal to actress Erich Gonzales. The actress declined his invitation.
