MANILA, Philippines — In her own words, "Captain America" star Hayley Atwell said she would be unable to attend ComicCon Asia in Manila because of changes in her work schedule.
Atwell posted a letter on Instagram, explaining the reason why she would no longer make it to the event.
“I’m so sorry to be missing the convention in Manila this weekend. I was looking forward to visiting your beautiful country and meeting you all,” she said.
The actress who plays Agent Peggy Carter added: “Unfortunately, the changes to my work schedule have made it impossible for me to travel so far at this time.”
This is in contrast to the organizer’s announcement that Atwell canceled her trip to the Philippines due to “political unrest in the country.”
This, the organizers said, was the reason why she was supposedly “not comfortable making the trip.”

Atwell was supposed to have an autograph and photograph session at the ComicCon Asia, which would be held at the SMX Convention Center on March 24 to 25.
Marvel film producer and comic book writer Stan Lee also announced that he would skip the convention due to health concerns.
In 2016, Atwell also canceled her trip to the Philippines due to conflict of schedule.
Atwell previously starred in "Captain America" movies and "Ant-Man." She was also part of the television series “Marvel’s Agent Carter” and “Black Mirror.”
