The 14 senators who voted for the Senate office move were the following:

  • Sonny Angara

  • Nancy Binay

  • Franklin Drilon

  • JV Ejercito

  • Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian

  • Richard Gorgdon

  • Panfilo Lacson

  • Manny Pacquiao

  • Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III

  • Grace Poe

  • Ralph Recto

  • Vicente “Tito” Sotto III

  • Joel Villanueva

  • Miguel Zubiri

Only senators Benigno Paolo “Bam” Aquino IV and Risa Hontiveros were against the relocation of the Senate office.

Lacson, chair of the Senate committee on accounts, initially asked his colleagues whether they would build the new building in Taguig City or Antipolo City. He was tasked to handle the proposed new building for the Senate last January.

He previously said he wants the new Senate building to be iconic, much like the Sydney Opera House in Australia or the Eiffel Tower in France.

The current Senate building is located at the compound of the Government Service Insurance System in Pasay City. —Rosette Adel with reports from Paolo Romero
