MANILA, Philippines — Police said they are ready for the annual observance of All Saint’s Day on November 1, Wednesday.
National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Oscar Albayalde said 5,355 police from NCR would be deployed in various areas of convergence during the two-day holiday on October 31 and November 1.
He added that this force would be augmented by 3,704; barangay tanods; 9,163 security guards; and 1,067 civilian volunteers.
“This is a total of 13.934 personnel joining forces to ensure the safety and security in actuation of Undas,” Albayalde said in a Palace press briefing on Thursday.
Albayalde said the NCRPO also coordinated with the local government units and other government agencies in case of emergencies. They have readied fire trucks, health stations in case of such actuations.
The NCRPO chief said security patrols are designated in residential areas to avoid "salisi" or "akyat-bahay" gang.
Among the areas of convergence to be monitored and secured by the police force and joint personnel are 82 cemeteries, 21 colombaria, 182 churches, 75 bus terminals, two seaports and four airports in Metro Manila.
Albayalde ensured that they would establish advanced command post and police assistant desk in the areas of convergence. Emergency action teams on the other hand are standby in these areas.
He added that the NCRPO would release a list of prohibited items in cemetery to prevent crimes.
