MANILA, Philippines — The rumored destabilization attempts against the 15-month-old administration of President Duterte are nothing but political noise reaching decibel 3 level at best.

Militarily, such purported plots are almost non-existent.

That is how national security adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr. sees the situation on the ground as far as the security and stability of the government is concerned.

With 10 as the highest, he ranked as “three” the level of threat posed by the alleged destabilization plots.

“It is almost nonexistent as far as we see from the military ranks,” Esperon told The STAR.

A retired four star general who served as Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff during the administration of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, he dismissed fears that President Duterte is losing mass support with the 18-point dip in his approval rating from the latest opinion survey of the Social Weather Stations.

“His approval rating remains high at 67 percent. So how can there be withdrawal of support?” he argued.
