SWS: Satisfaction with government institutions slightly decline
MANILA, Philippines — Public satisfaction ratings of state institutions under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte slightly dropped in the second quarter, according to a Social Weather Stations survey released Wednesday.
The Senate, the House of Representatives and the Supreme Court logged a two to four-point decline in their net public satisfaction ratings.
The survey conducted from June 23 to 26 showed that 64 percent of Filipinos were satisfied and 15 percent were dissatisfied with the performance of the Senate. This yields a "good" net satisfaction score of +49, three points below last quarter's "very good" +52.
The Senate garnered a four-quarter average net satisfaction rating of +50 from September to June 2017 while the House registered an average of +37.
The House of Representatives suffered a five-point drop from +39 in March to +34 in June. The survey showed that 53 percent were satisfied while 20 percent were dissatisfied.
The Supreme Court experienced a two-point decline with a "good" net satisfaction rating of +38 (55 percent satisfied and 17 percent dissatisfied).
The high tribunal obtained a four-quarter average net satisfaction rating of +39, the best among its predecessors.
Only Duterte's Cabinet registered an increase in its net public satisfaction ratings from +32 in March to +34 in June (52 percent satisfied, 18 percent dissatisfied).
The survey was conducted using face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adults nationwide with sampling error margins of ±3 percent. — Patricia Lourdes Viray
