Bongbong jobless, eager to work — Imee

The Philippine Star

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos yesterday said her brother, former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., is eager to go back to work in whatever capacity he can to help the administration of President Duterte.

The governor joined the President yesterday on his three-country state visits to the Middle East.

“My brother is jobless and he is eager to go back to work with the government, even without any title,” she told The STAR.

She said that her brother is just waiting for any job offer, especially since the ban on losing candidates taking on posts ends next month.

Rumors have been circulating that the former senator might be named interior and local government secretary after Ismael Sueno was sacked amid allegations of corruption and other abuses.

The President, however, said he is still scouting for people to fill positions in his Cabinet.

“If a president asks you to serve in whatever capacity, hindi mo naman pwede hindian. Siyempre, para sa bansa ‘yan (you can’t just say no. Of course, it’s for the country). Of course, I will be happy, I will be proud, I will be honored to serve in any position in the Duterte administration,” Bongbong was quoted as having told reporters over the weekend.

He was quick to point out, though, that the President has not offered him any post.

Duterte has been openly acknowledging the support he got from the Marcos family when he ran in the May 2016 presidential elections.
