MANILA, Philippines — Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea will lead the preparations for the 31st anniversary of the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution on February 25.

It will be the first EDSA revolution anniversary to be organized by the Duterte administration.

The anniversary will come three months after the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos was buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani despite protests from human rights advocates and Martial Law victims.

Duterte has said that Marcos deserves to be buried at the hero's cemetery because he was a president and a war veteran.

"Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea chairs this year’s event. As to who will co-chair from the private sector that still needs to be discussed," presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella said in a statement.

The theme of this year's commemoration is "A Day of Reflection: Celebrating People Power."
