Philippines' Maxine Medina makes it to Miss Universe Top 13
MANILA, Philippines (3rd update, 9 a.m.) – After successfully passing the preliminaries, Philippine bet Maxine Medina has entered the Top 13 of Miss Universe 2016.
The top 13 announcement kicked off the pageant’s grand coronation at the Mall of Asia Arena on Monday morning.
The 26-year-old Medina was chosen by the judges after series of preliminary interviews including swimsuit and evening gown presentation held last Thursday also in the same venue.
Making it to the Top 13, in no particular order, are:
- Miss Kenya - Mary Esther Were
- Miss Indonesia - Kezia Warouw
- Miss USA - Deshauna Barber
- Miss Mexico - Kristal Silva
- Miss Peru - Valeria Piazza
- Miss Panama - Keity Drennan
- Miss Colombia - Andrea Tovar
- Miss Philippines - Maxine Medina
- Miss Canada - Siera Bearchell
- Miss Brazil - Raissa Santana
- Miss France - Iris Mittenaere
- Miss Haiti - Raquel Pelissier
- Miss Thailand - Chalita Suansane
The Top 13 contestants will walk the runway in another swimsuit segment displaying their dedication to a healthy lifestyle and will be once again weighed in by the panel of judges which include, Miss Universe 1993 Dayanara Torres from Puerto Rico, Miss Universe 1994 Sushmita Sen from India, Miss Universe 2011 Leila Lopes from Angola, Editorial Director of Editorial Director of popular fashion and pop-culture magazine, Paper, TV star Cynthia Bailey, and Emmy and Tony award-winning producer Francine LeFrak.
Home viewers through Miss Univerese Global Fan vote can also help judges score the Miss Universe bets. Both votes and judges’ scores will be averaged to determine the Top 9.
