ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) leader Nur Misuari attempted to travel abroad but his request was turned down by a Pasig court hearing his rebellion and violation of international humanitarian law cases.

Misuari last week filed a motion before the Pasig Regional Trial Court to allow him to travel to the Middle East and attend the meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, City Legal officer Jesus Carbon said.

Misuari, who was fugitive for more than 3 years, came out from hiding on November 3 and was granted temporary liberty after the Pasig court suspended the warrant for his arrest for six months.

The court's relief for Misuari was for him to attend the peace negotiations initiated by President Rodrigo Duterte's government. It, however, junked Misuari's motion to travel.

"The judge said I cannot do that, I can allow you to travel only if the peace process will be held not outside the Philippines," Carbon told newsmen at a briefing here.

The Pasig court added that is has no authority to grant the request of Misuari as it was not in connection with the peace process.
