MANILA, Philippines — It’s just a normal day for Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General  Rolando "Bato" Dela Rosa despite receiving threats from drug lords who seek help from international terrorist group ISIS.

PNP spokesperson Senior Superintendent Dionardo Carlos said on Wednesday that they are not alarmed with the threat as it is far from a “security nightmare.”

The confident Carlos added that there is no need for them to add more security for their chief who is surrounded by up to third ring of “well trained” personnel including members of the Special Action Force.

“(If there are threats) the necessary units will take necessary precautions to prevent any of this incident to happen,” Carlos said in a press briefing at Camp Crame.

“I don’t think they will be able to match this (security). The qualification and the background of people around him now, malakas ‘yung mga ‘yun,” he added.

The spokesperson described the quality of each security member as having an equivalent of 10 policemen to one who all went on an extensive training.

Carlos said that it has been the same team providing the security for their chief since Dela Rosa assumed his post.

He stressed that the security team would perform its job if there is a real threat to the life of Dela Rosa from ISIS.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines earlier assured that the international terrorist group has not yet extended their presence in the country.

Dela Rosa said yesterday that drug lords who are affected by their campaign against illegal drugs already talked to the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters and ISIS to kill him and President Rodrigo Duterte.

Carlos, meanwhile, reiterated that Dela Rosa’s job is not a joke and he takes his commitment to clean the nation of the narcotics trade seriously.

“Hindi biro ang trabaho niya ngayon. For the next six months he just wants to deliver the promise of this government na maalis ‘yung droga within six months.”

The Duterte administration recently named government officials who are using, peddling and protecting drugs in the country as part of its intensive campaign.
