MANILA, Philippines — Davao City's 911 emergency response hotline have been launched nationwide on Monday as part President Rodrigo Duterte's measure to combat crime and corruption.
The 24-hour hotline for citizen complaints and an emergency hotline are now accessible to all Filipinos.
Telephone number 911 will be for national emergency calls, while 8888 will be reserved for citizen complaints.
Telecommunications Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba said that all calls to 911 will be rerouted to the existing Patrol 117 hotline while the 911 command center is not yet established, according to a report from The Freeman.

Telecommunications provider PLDT and its subsidiaries Smart and ePLDT have promised to provide free access for the emergency hotline while Globe will charge P5 per call to the hotline.
Meanwhile, the 8888 hotline may be used for concerns or complaints of citizens and will be relayed to the proper government agencies.
Filipinos may report corrupt officials, underperforming government personnel and unfinished government projects through the 8888 hotline.
Interior Secretary Ismael Sueño have called on the public to refrain from making prank calls to the new emergency hotline and stressed that 911 should only be used for emergency.
