MANILA, Philippines — Musical artists who are also supporters of Vice President-elect Leni Robredo are expected to perform at her thanksgiving celebration on Thursday.
Robredo's post-inaugural celebration titled "Pagkakaisa at Pasasalamat" will be held at the Quezon City Memorial Park from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the day of her oathtaking in the city.
In a televised interview, organizer Noel Ferrer said among the expected performers are Lea Salonga, Agot Isidro, Gary Valenciano, Enchong Dee, Noel Cabangon, The Company, Bagong Barrios and talents of Ogie Alcasid, among others.
Ferrer said two members of The Company were staunch supporters of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte, while Bagong Barrios rendered the campaign jingle of Duterte and rival presidential candidate Grace Poe.
"Tapos na ‘yung eleksyon, tapos na 'yung ibat-ibang kulay so thanksgiving victory and unity party [ito]," Ferrer said in the ABS-CBN news interview.
The thanksgiving and victory party was organized to accommodate Robredo's supporters who will not able to witness her inauguration at the Quezon City Reception House due to limited space for guests.
Actress Kris Aquino is expected to attend the ceremony to represent the Aquino family. The television host supported the Liberal Party under which Robredo and running mate Mar Roxas ran.
Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte, meanwhile, said Robredo's celebration will be a public affair.
"Hindi siya secluded, hindi siya private event," Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte said in an interview. — Rosette Adel
