MANILA, Philippines – Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno yesterday vowed to cooperate with president-elect Rodrigo Duterte’s platform to uphold the rule of law.
“I assure president-elect Duterte and his administration of the only thing that the judiciary is capable of promising – that we will continue to administer the rule of law with an even hand and a watchful eye,” the Supreme Court chief said in a statement.
Sereno, whose term as chief justice will end in 2030, congratulated Duterte and vice president-elect Leni Robredo for their proclamations as winners in the May 9 polls.
“I invoke the prayer of King Solomon when he asked for ‘wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead (the) people’ as my prayer for president-elect Digong and vice president-elect Leni and add that they be further blessed with vigor, dynamism, passion, boldness of heart and unity of mind to lead our country and our people,” she said.
