MANILA, Philippines - The Philippines has the “most engaged elections” in the Asia-Pacific region, according to social media giant Facebook yesterday.
“Twenty-two million people engaged in conversations related to the Philippine elections on Facebook, generating 268 million interactions,” the company said in a statement.
Of those engaged on the social media site about elections from Nov. 20 to May 7, some 19 million are in the Philippines, it said.
Facebook said that video triumphed as one of the most engaging forms of content, noting that presidential candidates released as many as 168 videos on the site, while vice presidential candidates had 432 in the Philippines.
“Women cared the most about elections. Women aged 18-24 were the most engaged demographics in the Philippines elections, followed closely by those aged 25-34,” Facebook said.
“Davao del Sur was the most engaged province on Facebook, followed by Davao del Norte,” it added.
Transparency was the most talked about election-related conversation throughout the monitored period, it said.
