Duterte retains wide lead; Poe, Roxas statistically tied for second spot

MANILA, Philippines — Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte dropped one point, but still maintained a wide lead over his rivals for the presidency, according to the latest Pulse Asia survey.
 
Duterte got 33 percent compared to his 34 percent in the previous Pulse Asia poll conducted from April 12-17.
 
 
The poll commissioned by ABS-CBN was conducted from April 19-24, after the Davao City mayor's rape remark and before news about his alleged secret bank accounts. It asked 4,000 respondents with a ± 1.5 percent margin of error.
 
Meanwhile, a rise in the numbers of Manuel Roxas II secured him a place at the second spot where he is statistically tied with Sen. Grace Poe.
 
Roxas got 20 percent, 2 points up than the previous poll, while Poe's numbers remained the same at 22 percent.
 
Vice President Jejomar Binay dropped to 18 percent from the 19 percent in the previous poll.
 
Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago, on the other hand, also remained at 2 percent.

Breakdown

Duterte was also the top choice in Metro Manila at 34 percent followed by Poe at 26 percent.
 
But Poe was the most preffered candidate in the rest of Luzon at 29 percent.
 
As for the Visayas, Roxas was the most preferred at 37 percent followed by Duterte at 32 percent.
 
In Mindanao, Duterte's numbers went down 3 points at 58 percent. 
 
The Davao City mayor was also the top pick in all social classes. He got 37 percent in Class ABC, 33 percent in the biggest voting bloc Class D, and 31 percent in Class E. 
 
Poe shared the lead in Class E with Duterte at 24 percent. — Levi A. So
