Leni Robredo allows Ombudsman to open bank accounts

MANILA, Philippines — Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo signed a waiver of transparency on Thursday allowing the Office of the Ombudsman to check her assets and financial records.

The Liberal Party vice presidential bet allowed full access to her bank account, waiving all her rights and privileges under the Bank Secrecy Law.

The affidavit of transparency was posted on Robredo's Twitter account on Friday.

Robredo's running mate former Interior Secretray Mar Roxas earlier signed an Affidavit of Transparency allowing Ombudsman to have a full disclosure of his bank account.

"I have always been an advocate of transparency, especially in public service. I have nothing to hide. As a private citizen, I am under no obligation to execute this document. However, as a candidate for President of the Republic of the Philippines, I want to prove that I am fully worthy of the people’s trust," Roxas said in a statement posted on his Facebook page.

This follows Sen. Antonio Trillanes's claim that Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has an undeclared bank account with P211 million.

Duterte, however, admitted that he has two bank accounts but these only contain several thousand pesos which is contrary to the allegation of Trillanes.
