MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Friday announced that the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested another suspect responsible for hacking its official website.
According to a report from radio dzMM, the NBI arrested Jonel de Asis, a 23-year-old information technology graduate, who was the mastermind behind the hacking.
The NBI confiscated the suspect's personal computer and cellphone after arresting him at his house in Muntinlupa City.
De Asis downloaded 340 GB data from the Comelec website to prove that it can be easily hacked, according to the report.
The second hacker is also allegedly responsible for leaking the Comelec data which includes the details of 55 million registered Filipino voters.

Last week, the NBI arrested 23-year-old Paul Zulueta for allegedly hacking the Comelec website.
Prosecutors have recommended P600,000 bail for Zulueta's temporary release. He is facing three separate offenses: illegal access, data interference and illegal use of devices.
