Bongbong confirms INC endorsement
MANILA, Philippines — Vice presidential frontrunner Sen. Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Friday confirmed that Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) has officially endorsed him for the upcoming elections.
Marcos said that INC informed him of its decision last Tuesday. He cited his long relationship with the religious sect as it also supported his father, former President Ferdinand Marcos.
According to reports, INC also endorsed senatorial aspirants former MMDA chief Francis Tolentino and Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez.
The religious sect is yet to endorse a presidential candidate for the May 9 elections.
Presidential aspirants Vice President Jejomar Binay, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, Liberal Party standard-bearer Mar Roxas and Sen. Grace Poe have all met with INC in hopes to get the group's bloc vote.
