LOOK: Trillanes bares Duterte's bank transactions

MANILA, Philippines — Following his allegations that Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has an undeclared bank account, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV bared the mayor's alleged bank transactions.

Trillanes earlier claimed that Duterte failed to declare P211 million in his 2014 Statement of Assets and Liabilities as required by law.

The camp of Trillanes sent an email to Philstar.com showing nine alleged bank transactions of Duterte and his daughter Sara in their joint account at the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI).

The credit transactions, dated March 28, 2014 and Dec. 9, 2014, in the supposed bank account of Duterte range from P16.8 million to P55.1 million.

Trillanes dared Duterte to file a libel case against him if his allegation is proven false.

The Duterte camp, however, said that they will not file charges against the senator as it is a waste of time.

Duterte's spokesperson Peter Laviña said that the alleged account of the mayor at BPI does not exist and claimed that Trillanes' allegations were baseless.

"It's part of the smear campaign being raised against the mayor especially right now. His opponents are practicing crab mentality, trying to pull him down with all these baseless accusations," Laviña said in a telephone interview with ANC.

The mayor recently topped the Pulse Asia survey with 35 percent, a 12-point advantage over his closest opponent Sen. Grace Poe.
