Trillanes making noise to boost VP bid – Duterte
MANILA, Philippines – Presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte slammed vice presidential candidate Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, calling him an “idiot” after Trillanes bared how Duterte allegedly killed people mercilessly.
The tough-talking mayor said Trillanes is just making noise so that he would be in the news to boost his chances of winning.
Duterte said that he does not know Trillanes personally. They only met when Trillanes asked to be his runningmate and Trillanes got mad at him when he rejected him.
“We only had a photo opportunity together and he asked me if he could be my vice president. I told him, ‘don’t get mad at me because you are not deserving.’ The son of a ***** staged a coup d’etat, damaged a hotel and he is telling the world about it. Now he is even boasting,” Duterte told reporters in an ambush interview during his sortie in Cavite on Friday.
Trillanes said in an interview Duterte told him that “he made people get down on their knees and shot them in the head, splattering their brains on the ground.”
The senator warned the public that people who casually narrate their “mafia-style executions” are “different, they are sick.”
In his speech in Pandacan, Manila on Friday night, Duterte also warned the public to be careful with Trillanes, whom he called an “idiot.”
Duterte hits Binay, Bishop Bacani
Duterte also took a swipe at Vice President Jejomar Binay and retired Bishop Teodoro Bacani.
The mayor slammed the Vice President for calling him “abnormal.” Duterte said Binay is the one who is “abnormal” because he is a thief and has allegedly infected his wife and children.
Binay earlier urged Duterte to have himself checked by a psychiatrist in Makati, where the test can be taken for free, because the stress of the campaign seems to have greatly affected him.
Binay made the challenge after documents on the annulment of Duterte’s marriage to his first wife were made public.
Duterte’s response came swiftly. “Binay said he wants the two of us to undergo a psychological test. I said that is dangerous for him and might backfire because when the psychiatrist tests our brains, it will come out that your hands are itchy. That is why God put you in Makati.”
Duterte’s vice presidential bet Alan Peter Cayetano also defended his runningmate, saying that “psychological incapacity” is the most common reason used by married couples in filing for annulment.
Speaking at a rally in Pandacan, Cayetano said that what media did not say was that “psychological incapacity” is the reason cited by all couples filing for annulment in the Philippines.
Cayetano explained that the Supreme Court had also ruled that while one may be psychologically incapacitated to be a husband or wife to a particular man or woman, it does not mean one is psychologically incapacitated to be a spouse to another person.
“That is why one can marry again,” he said.
Duterte refused to comment on his mental health, saying that his psychological report is being brought up because it is already election time.
“We have reached the end game. They know that I am now leading the race. That’s how it really is,” he said.
Duterte did not spare retired Bishop Teodoro Bacani Jr., after Bacani appealed to the El Shaddai members not to vote for Duterte.
“He is a bad example to the priests. Di ba may asawa si Bacani, may kabit siya (Bacani has a partner, right? He has a mistress),” the mayor said.
Peter Laviña, Duterte’s spokesman, said that with barely two weeks before the elections, the mayor’s camp is expecting more personal attacks from his rivals.
