Pacquiao apologizes for comments against LGBT community
MANILA, Philippines - Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao on Tuesday took to Facebook to apologize for his recent comments calling people in same-sex relations as "worse than animals."
"I'm sorry for hurting people by comparing homosexuals to animals. Please forgive me for those I've hurt," the boxer-turned-lawmaker said on his Facebook page.
However, he said he still stands on his belief "because of what the Bible says."
"I still stand on my belief that I'm against same sex marriage because of what the Bible says, but I'm not condemning LGBT (lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transexuals). I love you all with the love of the Lord. God Bless you all and I'm praying for you," he said.
Pacquiao is running for a Senate seat under Vice President Jejomar Binay's United Nationalist Alliance.
