MANILA, Philippines – The eldest daughter of vice presidential bet Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo is still confident of her mother’s victory.
Aika Robredo said there is still time to improve the popularity of her mother, even as she continues to trail Senators Francis Escudero, Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Alan Peter Cayetano.
“It’s too early to tell and I think if you came from one percent and based on the trend we will still have enough time,” Aika said in a chance interview with The STAR.
Robredo is the official vice presidential candidate of the ruling Liberal Party led by its standard bearer Manuel Roxas II.
Aika, who represented her mother at the Tsinelas Leadership Awarding ceremony recently in Greenhills, San Juan, was referring to the popularity of her mother as shown in recent surveys.
She admitted their concern from the beginning was the fact their mother is not that popular, though she has a good track record in public service.
“That’s the problem from the very start, she is not well known and popular but the people are quite receptive to her,” Aika said.
