MANILA, Philippines – The resolution of the conflict in Mindanao lies in the hands of presidential candidates Vice President Jejomar Binay and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, according to former Tawi-Tawi governor Al Tillah.
Tillah said he would endorse Binay and Duterte before the Muslim community since they both have the passion to pursue peace in Mindanao.
“I would support Duterte and Binay for supporting Muslims and promoting peace in Mindanao. What I see from them is the passion in seeing the end of the conflict in Mindanao,” Tillah told a press conference in Quezon City yesterday.
Tillah said they would support Binay if Duterte fails to hurdle the disqualification case against him in the Commission on Elections.
If Duterte wins the disqualification case, Tillah said the Muslim community would be free to choose between Binay and the tough talking Davao mayor.
Tillah said he would personally prefer Binay and Duterte to unite for Mindanao.
He also said the Muslims would guard the counting machines in Mindanao to ensure the votes of Binay and Duterte are secured.
Tillah also said he is optimistic that the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) will still be passed even with only three session days remaining before Congress goes on a break for the election campaign.
