MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Thursday confirmed that there is no Filipino reported hurt in the recent fatal attack in a Pakistan university.
The DFA assured that although there was no Filipino casualty reported in the incident, the Philippine Embassy in Islamabad continues to monitor the situation and vows readiness to help fellow Filipinos in case of need.
"The embassy stands ready to provide assistance to Filipino nationals affected by the incident," the DFA said.
On Wednesday, gun men assailed Bacha Khan University in Charsadda town, outside the city of Peshawar, Pakistan, leaving at least 21 students dead.
The Philippine government said it condemns the militants’ attack “in the strongest terms.”
"As we extend our most heartfelt sympathies to those who lost their loved ones in this tragic incident, the Philippines expresses the hope that the perpetrators will be identified and held responsible," it said.
