MANILA, Philippines - The Commission on Elections on Thursday released an initial list of candidates for the May 9 elections.
The list includes eight candidates for president, six candidates for vice president and 52 candidates for senator.

Some 143 individuals filed their certificates of candidacy for senator before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in October 2015.
The Comelec said that the list released on Thursday is subject to the outcome of issues and cases pending before the commission.
Meanwhile, the latest survey from the Social Weather Stations showed that incumbent and former senators are most likely to win the senatorial race in the upcoming elections.
